Who is responsible
Texas Junk Guys (texasjunkguys.com) is operated by Digital Storks Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16816062), 12 Constance Street, London, E16 2DQ, United Kingdom. Digital Storks Ltd decides how the personal information described here is used. To reach us about privacy, use the contact form or write to that address.
What we collect
- Quote requests. Your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code or city, the service you need and the job details you enter, and whether you agreed to be texted about the request.
- Messages and listing requests. What you enter in the contact form or the business listing forms: name, email, phone, business details and your message.
- Business owner accounts. Your email address and name, and, if you sign in with Google, the name, email address and profile picture Google gives us. Plus what you add to your listing, such as a description, logo and photos.
- Spam protection. When you submit a form we store a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, which we use only to limit repeated submissions.
- Usage. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited; it sets cookies and receives your IP address and device details. Separately, we keep simple daily counts of listing views and phone-number clicks, with nothing in them that identifies you.
- Sign-in cookies. If you sign in, a cookie keeps you signed in. Some forms keep your answers in your own browser so they aren't lost if a submission fails.
We don't ask for payment card details on this site, and the site isn't meant for children under 13.
Business listings
Listings are built from public business information, mostly from Google: business name, address, phone number, website, opening hours, Google rating and one photo. We don't copy review text. If a listing is yours and you want it corrected or removed, including a photo, use the listing request form and we'll do it.
How we use it
- To pass your quote request to a local company and email you about it.
- To answer messages and handle listing claims, corrections and removals.
- To run business owner accounts and send owners the emails they've chosen.
- To keep spam and abuse off the site, fix errors, and understand how it is used.
Under UK and EU data protection law, we rely on taking steps you asked for (your quote request or account), our legitimate interests in running and protecting a business directory, and your consent where we ask for it (text messages).
Who we share it with
The company handling your quote request. Your request goes to one local company. It sees the job details first, and your name and contact details only once it accepts the request. That company is independent and is responsible for how it then uses your details.
Companies that run the site for us, only as far as they need to: Hostinger and Railway (hosting and database), Cloudflare (network, image storage), Resend (email delivery), Google (analytics and sign-in), Sentry (error reports) and hCaptcha (spam checks, where shown on a form). Some of these are in the United States or other countries, so your information may be processed outside the country you live in.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising.
Email and text messages
We email you about a quote request you sent. Emails to business owners include an unsubscribe link, and owners can change email settings in their dashboard. You are only texted about a quote request if you ticked the box asking for that, which is unticked by default. We don't send marketing texts.
How long we keep it
We keep quote requests, messages and account information for as long as we need them to run the service, deal with disputes and meet legal duties, and delete or anonymise them after that. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. Send the request through the contact form from the email address it concerns, and we'll answer within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for asking. Depending on where you live, such as Texas, California, the UK or the EU, the law may give you further rights, including the right to appeal our decision or to complain to your regulator (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in Texas, the Attorney General).
You can block Google Analytics with your browser's settings or Google's opt-out add-on; the site works the same without it.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal information we'll update this page and the date at the top.
